Vehicle financing in Brazil reached 674,735 units in July 2026, the highest volume recorded for that month since 2008, when 794,843 units were financed, according to data released on Monday by Trillia, the data analysis and artificial intelligence arm of B3, Brazil's stock exchange operator.

Annual and cumulative growth

The July figure represents a 5.6% increase compared with the same month in 2025. Over the first seven months of 2026, cumulative financing operations reached 4.452 million units, a rise of 10% against the equivalent period a year earlier, indicating a broad and sustained upward trend in consumer credit for vehicles.

Light vehicles lead the advance

The growth was driven primarily by light vehicles, which accounted for 479,987 of July's financed units. Within that segment, 124,933 were new vehicles and 355,054 were used. Light vehicle financing rose 6.1% year-on-year, outpacing the overall market rate and suggesting that demand for used cars in particular remains a significant force in the financing landscape.

If the current trajectory holds, cumulative financing for the full year is on course to comfortably surpass the levels seen in 2025, though whether July's pace can be sustained through the second half of the year remains to be seen.
