Spain's National Police shared evidence allegedly linking Morocco to the crossing of 72,000 people into Ceuta on 30–31 July with a National Court judge, without informing the government.
Interior Minister Marlaska wrote to the National Police director demanding to know why he was not informed of a report alleging Moroccan agents directed the crossing of some 70,000 people into Ceuta on 30 and 31 July.
Spain's Interior Ministry data shows 5,152 irregular sea arrivals on peninsular coasts by 15 August, surpassing the 4,808 recorded at the Canary Islands — a direct reversal of the position twelve months earlier.
