A 41-year-old man was seriously injured after being shot multiple times outside an Asian restaurant in the Cologne-Mülheim district on Tuesday evening, in what police are treating as a targeted attack.

The Attack

The victim was seated in the outdoor area of the restaurant, situated near Schanzenstraße — a street known chiefly for concerts and events — when an assailant allegedly crossed the square and opened fire on him. The 28-year-old suspect is reported to have fired repeatedly before fleeing the scene on foot.

Suspect Detained

Officers from Cologne Police subsequently apprehended the suspect at the Rhine riverbank in the Porz district. Criminal investigators moved swiftly to secure evidence at the scene. However, police have not officially confirmed where on his body the victim was struck, and a police spokesman stated he was unable to provide details on the man's condition.
