How First Draft Works
Users can access the feature through Instagram's iPhone camera app or by selecting more than one clip from their Reels gallery. After tapping the First Draft button, Instagram analyses each clip — including footage longer than a minute — and stitches trimmed segments into a single reel that is ready for further editing or immediate sharing. The company describes the output as a "starting point" rather than a finished product.

Availability is currently limited to the iPhone app; no Android rollout has been announced.
