Garmin Fenix 9 Brings 3,000-Nit OLED

Garmin has unveiled its Fenix 9 line of rugged smartwatches, with the base model priced from $999.99 and headlined by an OLED display capable of reaching 3,000 nits — twice the brightness of its predecessor. The devices are available to order from 28th August.
Base model: brighter, faster, and more capable
The standard Fenix 9, offered in 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm case sizes, carries 50 per cent more RAM than its forerunner and an upgraded map engine designed to make panning across navigation charts noticeably smoother. Storage has been increased to 64GB, and the watch is fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire lens. On the largest 51mm variant, Garmin claims up to 29 days of battery life in standard smartwatch mode.
Among the new software additions is Garmin Epic, a feature that aggregates workout data across days, weeks, or months into a consolidated view of the wearer's health and performance. The update also introduces revised stamina tracking metrics and expanded rucking support, including the ability to adjust pack weight during an active session.
Fenix 9 Pro: titanium, satellite, and a larger screen
The Fenix 9 Pro begins at $1,099.99 and adds a titanium case as standard. All three case sizes — 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm — can be equipped with either InReach satellite messaging or LTE connectivity for an additional $100 upfront and a $7.99 monthly subscription. The 51mm Pro variant introduces a 1.5-inch OLED panel, a first for the Fenix range; smaller sizes carry 1.3-inch and 1.4-inch displays respectively.
The 47mm and 51mm Pro models are also offered with a solar-charged display variant, which Garmin claims can sustain up to 57 days of battery life — provided the wearer spends at least three hours per day outdoors in conditions of 50,000 lux or greater, a caveat that significantly narrows the practical circumstances under which that figure would be achievable.
Availability
The full Fenix 9 lineup is offered across an array of case materials and band colour combinations. Orders open on 28th August, though Garmin has not indicated when units will begin shipping to customers.
