Malla, 56, who rose to prominence as frontman of Los Ronaldos, posted a video to his Instagram account — which has approximately 148,000 followers — showing him performing his song Berlín, taken from his 2009 album La hora de los gigantes, to a group of healthcare workers in what he described as a gesture of gratitude. The performance was directed at the paediatric team at the Fundación Jiménez Díaz in Madrid.
A Public Plea for Healthcare
Accompanying the video, Malla published a written statement in which he made a broader appeal on behalf of the Spanish public health service. "From now on, above all, I want a public health service that is healthy, strong and fair," he wrote, according to the post. The nature of his son's illness was not disclosed.
The statement represents one of the more prominent celebrity endorsements of Spain's publicly funded healthcare infrastructure in recent months, coming from a figure with significant cultural standing in the country.
