Munser gives Jena the perfect start
Jena made the sharper beginning, with Emilio Munser putting the visitors ahead as early as the fourth minute. The Thuringians held firm for much of the contest, their defence resisting sustained Chemnitz pressure in the second half. They came close to doubling their lead before misfortune intervened in the closing stages. Manassé Eshele had already been dismissed for a second bookable offence on the stroke of half-time, reducing Jena to ten men. A second yellow-red card, shown to Sören Reddemann in the 90th minute, left Jena facing the final moments with only nine players.
Late equaliser and post-match disorder
The numerical disadvantage proved decisive. David Voigt converted for Chemnitz in the seventh minute of added time to level at 1-1. Jena head coach Marco Grote confronted referee Florian Lukawski, received a red card, was reported to have pushed a steward while making his way towards the dressing room, and then became involved in a verbal altercation with Chemnitz manager Benjamin Duda. Duda was blunt in his post-match assessment, stating: "We played Jena into the ground." The incident involving the steward was reported but has not yet been the subject of any official statement.
The result leaves the broader question of Jena's ambitions in the Regionalliga Nordost unresolved, with the club's supporters already agitated by the existing promotion structure — a context that will do little to ease tensions as the season progresses.
