Apple has confirmed its next major product event for 9th September at 1pm ET, with invitations — bearing the tagline "Surprise and shine" — dispatched on Wednesday. The event will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park and streamed live on Apple's website.
A foldable iPhone in the frame
The September showcase is shaping up to be one of Apple's most consequential in years. The company is widely expected to unveil its long-rumoured foldable iPhone, a device that has circulated in the form of apparent dummy-unit photographs. Those images suggest the foldable could adopt a wide form factor broadly comparable to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8. Whether Apple will formally announce the device at this event remains unconfirmed.
Also expected at the event are refreshed iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, though those are rumoured to represent iterative rather than wholesale redesigns. Should Apple follow the naming conventions of previous years, the new Pro handsets would be designated the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Base model iPhone 18 pushed back
Apple reportedly does not intend to announce a standard iPhone 18 at the September event. According to reports, the base model is set to be introduced in 2026, with Apple also said to be planning an iPhone 18e and a second-generation iPhone Air for 2027. Those plans remain unverified rumours at this stage.
Ternus takes the stage for the first time as chief executive
