Two Men Shot Dead at Hamburg's Lagerstraße Factory

Two men were shot dead at a factory complex on Lagerstraße in Hamburg's Schanzenviertel on Tuesday evening, near the city's main trade fair grounds and television tower. According to BILD, at least two men sustained fatal gunshot wounds, and further persons were reportedly injured in the incident.

Police drew some 30 patrol cars from across the city to the scene, establishing a wide cordon around the complex and launching a large-scale manhunt in the surrounding streets. Heavily armed officers carrying submachine guns secured the perimeter of the factory building while multiple ambulances attended.

Emergency services, including the fire brigade and a duty doctor, were initially unable to enter the building because police believed armed perpetrators might still have been inside. Officers from the Bundespolizei were called in to support local units, and several drones were deployed above the area to help locate any armed individuals who may have fled.

BILD reported that one fatally injured man was found inside the building, while a second man died in an ambulance. The latter had reportedly been shot in the abdomen; the attending doctor was unable to save him, and BILD reported that a major artery was likely struck, with the man believed to have died from blood loss.

The factory complex on Lagerstraße houses the meat producer DELTA Fleisch Hamburg and the boxing gym Universum Boxing. Police searched both premises. Hamburg's specialist serious-crimes prosecution assumed control of the case, and the murder commission attended the scene in protective suits to gather forensic evidence. Police gave no initial information on a motive or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
